#13 "I Hear She's Gluten Free"

#13 of the challenge. This started out as 2 marks of blue paint (heads). Then some bodies with poses.
Then little dresses. Then basic background shapes. Then....it hit me: They're waitresses! So I went with it.The blues started the whole thing again!

  1. Laurie, the pairing of painting and title is EXQUISITE!

So, am I to understand that this painting was an investigation, an I-wonder-what-I'll-paint-today adventure? You put two marks on canvas, then those two marks triggered the next marks, and so on?

    Do tell.

I am in awe and wonder.

  2. Hi Dotty,
Yes, you're right. I have 3 other paintings in progress right now that just don't seem to be done (in other words, I'm not happy yet). So I start others to clear my head and to relax. One mark leads to the next, until it looks like something to me...then I enhance it, etc. But yes, it's one of those times that the painting itself decides what it's going to be. I LOVE this kind of painting! Thanks for the nice complements!

    1. Spectacular, this type of intuitive painting is so hard for me, but I LOVE trying... I love the light behind them, and their postures, so intriguing..

    1. Thank you, Wendy. It was only recently ( in the last several years) that I even knew I had a style!

  4. Amazing how it came together. BTW - that title, been there, done that. When traveling, it is sooo hard to find GF places to eat, some parts of the country look at you like you have two heads when you ask for the GF menu or items, so on the road, I do alot of cooking.

    1. Well, Val.....have you tried talking to them first? Sometimes it gets them to open up. (I may be getting tired-ha!)

  9. so cool that this was an unplanned creation, and it is such a success! Love their poses, and your graphic lines and shadows. Title made me laugh. Gluten free is SO BIG in So. Cal. But of course.
