Canvas and Corks- the Birmingham Community House- "Tipsy Tulips" class

Another fun night at the Birmingham Community House. The group was great, and created some beautiful works of art!
Wow, this started out as something TOTALLY different, but I just loved the greens/blues and just had fun! This is on the dailypaintworks auction, starting at $48.00. Acrylic, 11x14.

It's been a while since I've painted. I don't like that at all. But it sure is therapeutic to get back, at least with some little cherries! This is 8x10 acrylic, and for sale on dailypaintworks.

Thank you again to the Birmingham Community House for hosting the second "Canvas and Corks" class. Most of the group said they had never painted before. You wouldn't know it. They all produced awesome pears! Thank you for being such a fun and lively group, and here are a few of those fun people..

The Birmingham Community House "Canvas and Corks"

February 27, 2014 was the first "Canvas and Corks" class at the Birmingham Community House. I was honored to be asked to be the host artist. The 22 women and 1 "Picasso" man made for a fun night! I displayed a simple step by step demo and everyone painted along with me as we each created a pear. All of them were amazing, and yet each was very unique. I enjoyed it, and I thank the class for being such an enthusiastic and fun group. Brett Nicholson, as usual, and his department, did a great job in organizing it, and Patti Peacock was an invaluable partner to have during the class. Also, my good artist friends, Kristen Dukat and Gloria Moses are always there with valuable input that we all share on our various art ventures. The Community House is a non profit organization that is committed to providing educational, cultural, and wellness programs to the community. With the hundreds of classes offered, the Artist of the Month program, and so much more, I'm proud to be part of it!

Spring Hope

This is a painting that we will do on one of our next "Canvas and Corks" night at the Birmingham Community House. I will be teaching these 1 night classes,
weekly classes, and children's art camp in the summer. Thank you to the Community House for these opportunities. They are so generous in promoting the arts, and especially local artists. As coordinator of their "Artist of the Month program", I invite any local artist to contact me if you're interested in exhibiting your artwork. And check out all the other wonderful classes they have to offer!
This painting is called "Spring Hope", and is oil 8x8 on 1 1/2 inch gallery wrapped canvas (ready to hang) $65.00 and is available through dailypaintworks or contact me. The title comes from my longing for sun. It's been a long winter. And, I want to thank everyone one who has commented or followed my blog. It really means the world to me, and always inspires me to keep painting.
Thank you!

February Exhibit!

If you're in the area, I will have an art exhibit during the month of February, 2014, at the Wooden Spoon Restaurant in Brighton, Michigan. There will be approximately 14 pieces of my work there. I understand that they have great food, too! The address is 675 West  Grand River Avenue, in Brighton. I look forward to this exhibit, and I thank local artist Peggy Kerwan for the opportunity!

At Rest

I was in the mood to do something a little larger and just have fun without  thinking too
hard. It's amazing how we can think too hard sometimes. It usually gets me into trouble!

Colors

My friends suggested that I do some alcohol inks for the challenge. So I got them out and used them, but also used acrylic and watercolor. I guess it qualifies as mixed media! 8x10 on Yupo paper. It was fun and is in the auction starting at $50.00 on dailypaintworks.com
