A Noble Soul

I painted this from a photo I snapped of a beautiful police horse at our town's Christmas parade. I hope I did this majestic creature justice! It was such a perfect day. Sunny, cold, crisp, and we had our dogs with us. Christmas music was playing. It was one of those times where you feel lucky to be able to see and hear and laugh. A "memory lock" day, as we've always called that feeling.

  1. Laurie, such elegant painting you've done here—you've captured the magical juxtaposition of cold day and warm creature. The words of the old Anglican hymn (which I probably first learned via the titles of veterinarian surgeon James Herriot's semi-biographical books) jump to mind:

    All things bright and beautiful,
    All creatures great and small,
    All things wise and wonderful,
The Lord God made them all.

    1. I love the quote, and I love the compliment. Thank you, Dotty!

  2. Laurie this is GRAND! I love Dotty's quote, so very true of this, and of you!
Bright and beautiful, wise and wonderful! That is you my friend. Your soul is shining through here.
His spirit is there in his eye(s)and his nature is clear to see. You continue to amaze me with your talent for capturing light. Glorious!

  3. Just amazing words, Sheila. Thank you!

  4. This is absolutely brilliant! Wonderful job, Laurie.

  5. Brilliant. I love that word. Thank you, Val!
