Negative painting again for shadows. The title came after the painting, as it often does. It's a gorgeous day here in Michigan. Beautiful snow outside, it's sunny, and I have been in my big "toy box" "play room" for several hours. How lucky am I? It is such a wonderful and joyous feeling, and yet, as all of us I'm sure feel, my heart hurts for what is going on in this world. This is my back yard view.
How did I miss this post when I stopped by yesterday?! LOVE the shadows from negative painting. Did you paint in all of the background first, and then go in to carve out the shadows? The stems and leaves also fascinate me; my eyes are feasting, and loving the call to move from one place to another and back again in your painting. A gift. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Dotty for the great remarks! I started with the white flowers and stems, then I painted all the background with blues and magentas then carved my way around for the background shadows. So much dang fun!.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful peaceful view you have Laurie! Love the red peaking though everywhere in the painting!
