#4 of the challenge. I snapped a photo of this man while I was in a restaurant recently. He was simply sitting and waiting for someone. I imagined he was waiting for his wife, but what do I know? It was just a really nice thought. The background, colors, objects, etc, are all different from the photo. But that's what they call artistic license, right? I challenged myself with being aware of color harmony and unity with this painting.
This is available at the Detroit Artist Market.
Nice artistic decisions Laurie - I think it is always so generational when I hear a guy say, "Waiting for my bride." Gotta love that generation, they really know how to reference their mates! ha ha
ReplyDeleteI love that phrase! Thanks, Pattie

ReplyDelete"Waiting for my Bride" is essence of Laurie and just plain masterful. It pulls me right out of my monkey mind into the presence of RIGHT NOW.
The shadows.
The light.
The groom in his tux waiting for his bride : )
Masterful.
Thanks, Dotty! Masterful. I'll take it!
DeleteOh, so well done! A great piece Laurie and i really like how you captured his age while capturing the moment.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Val- I like that part, too..
DeleteYour light is amazing, as always. I love the rustic dresser, the way he is holding his hands, and the line of the bottles and lights at the bar. You have captured what we all do, look at strangers, and wonder about their story. Love this one. Wonderful Laurie ;)
ReplyDeleteYou're right- human nature I guess- to wonder about other's stories..Thanks, Sheila!
